Neighbourhood Guide – Talamanca

Let’s show some love for Talamanca, the laidback coastal barrio that’s home to Mikasa, our boutique hotel.

Outdoor exercise

Talamanca is a fitness fanatics dream, with several kilometres of accessible coastal trail hugging the shore from Cap Martinet all the way to Marina Botafoch. Starting at Mikasa, we love to head around the rugged headlands of Illa Grossa and Illa Plana before picking up the wooden boardwalk at Talamanca Beach at following it all the way out to the Sa Punta. Check out the two open-air gyms en route, plus free showers on the beach.

Bar Flotante

This lo-fi little beach bar – the name literally means The Floating Bar - has been serving up ice-cold drinks and salty seafood for over twenty years on a deck that hovers inches above the gently lapping waves of Talamanca Bay. We love to stop by for a chilled beer and a plate of tasty tortillitas de camarones – a crispy prawn and chickpea flour fritter native to the Bay of Cadiz – at the end of a long, wintery walk.

Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay

This beautiful hotel elevated Talamanca Bay when it opened five years ago. From the same team as the peerless Marbella Club, it’s the kind of breezy, barefoot five-star hotel where children are as welcome as the adults. And seriously – who doesn’t love a Nobu restaurant on their doorstep?

The Fish Shack

Far flung out on the point of Sa Punta, the pared-back beauty of the Fish Shack is echoed in the menu – namely because there isn’t a menu at all. The choice is simply whatever is freshest that day – sea bass, calamari, octopus, prawns. Each dish comes with the same side order of cool, boiled potatoes, little slices of green pepper and a simple salad of lettuce and onions. It’s about as undone as could be, and there’s a ladder into the sea for a post-lunch dip.

Hostal Talamanca

This iconic beachfront edifice was originally built as the balnearium of Talamanca, in the days when swimming costumes were knee-length and woollen. These days, it’s a super-authentic shoreside seafood restaurant and pared-back hotel, with a suntrap dining terrace, a sandy-toes cocktail bar and retro appeal in spades. The perfect winter lunch spot.

City Boat Ibiza - Barcas de Talamanca

This retro wooden passenger boat has been ferrying clients back and forth across the harbour to Ibiza Town for over half a century. Hop on at Marina Botafoc and pay 3 euros for an atmospheric ride via Marina Ibiza to Ibiza Town’s legendary port district. The chicest way to ride from supper to Club Chinois.
